MALAYSIA WON 2-0 BUT DESERVED MORE

Wan Zaharulnizam scored Malaysian first goal
THE Malaysian young tigers opened up their Olympic qualification round campaign with a 2-0 win against Pakistan in the first leg tie at Shah Alam Stadium last night. Despite total domination and playing against 10 men entirely in the second half, Ong Kim Swee's side just manage two goals to show.

Two goals in the first half by Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria in the as early in the third minute and Mohd Irfan Fazali just before the break. The two goal win may not be safe enough to see them through as they had to travel to Lahore for the return leg early next month.

By right they should deserved more. Squandering numerous goalscoring opportunities  especially in the second half and had they taken it well certainly will give no chance for visitor in the return leg. But substitute goalkeeper Mohamad Umeer did play his part to deny the home side from scoring.

Still they need to give a much improve display on their overall performance if they intended to go far in the qualifying round against tougher opposition. Their first touch on the ball totally outrageous especially in the first half.

Only midfielder K. Gurusamy and defender Mahali Jasuli in the Malaysian side looks at ease with the ball. Anyway it is good start for the Malaysian young side and hope the win will boost their confidence level and continued to improved match by match.
