TWO RED WARRIORS SHINES IN GUANGZHOU

NEWLY crowned Malaysia Cup 2010 Champions Kelantan again stole the limelight in the opening of the Asian Football games when their striker Norshahrul Idlan Talha (27th min) and S.Chanthuru (59th min) both scored for the national side when they beat Krygystan 2-1 in Group A match at Huadu Stadium yesterday.

The Malaysian's side broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when Negri Sembilan's S. Kunanlan break free on the left find Norhshahrul as the striker wriggles his way past between three Krygystan defenders to slot in past their goalkeeper. Despite huge protest from their opponent claiming for handball the goal stood.

But as usual due to lack of concentration Krygstan took just 10 minutes to be back on level terms when striker Sydykov great individual effort saw them back into the game. Late in the first half they had a glorious opportunity to take the lead but thanks to another Kelantan's Malaysia Cup hero Khairul Fahmi who made a splendid save to deny Murzaev in a one-to-one situation.

Earlier Perlis's striker Fakri Shaarani see himself feature in just 13 minutes in the match and  had to be replace by Faizal Abu Bakar. The knee-injury looks to be quite serious and probably Rajagobal could miss the striker services for the entire Asian Games campaign.

After the break right on the hour mark the young Malaysian side were back into the lead when the unmarked S. Chanturu quick to pounce on the rebound for the important lead. Again a fine move by Norshahrul in the box saw the striker strike a fierce shot with his outside foot. The goalkeeper parried  the ball straight into the former Penang born path and with the simplest task to bury the ball into the empty net.

With Krygstan began to push forward as they continued to pile up the pressure the Malaysian's side suffered another huge blow when skipper Norhafiz Zamani Misbah were down injured with Fadhli Shas taking over.

Goalscorer S. Chanturu too had to be taken out when he suffered cramps late in the match and was replaced by the Harimau squad's  Izzaq Faris Ramlan but the national side were able to hang to lead until the final whistle.

The Malaysian side will face mighty Japan whom defeated host China 3-0 on Wednesday before they wrapped up their group match against China.
