ASHAARI LATE STRIKE PUT TERENGGANU THROUGH IN THE QUARTERFINAL


TERENGGANU wrecked Sabah hopes in injury time with a late winner through midfielder Mohamed Ashaari Samsuddin. Sabah who lead Group C for most of the campaign suffered a 2-0 defeat to Terengganu in their second last match that proves the turning point for the Turtles comeback. 



With the last match to decide, Pahang just needed a point to go through lead Sabah 1-0 in the 78th minute. But Sabah's Razlan Oto level the score 1-1 in the 82nd minute at Darul Makmur Stadium. While in Cheras, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur are tied at 1-1. 

With 90 minutes on the clock Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu still playing in injury time. Sabah waiting anxiously for the results but in the 93th minute Terengganu's midfielder hails from Bukit Payung, Maran deliver  a shocking news when the 25-year-old got the winner. 

With the win Terengganu go top of the group on better goal difference and they will meet Kedah. While Pahang in second spot will face Johor FC in the quarterfinals. 

In Group A defending champions Negri Sembilan stay on top despite a goal down in the first half. But they regroup after the break and scored three goals through Ching Hong Aik, Shukur Adan and Mohd Asyraf to maintain their unbeaten record in the group. Negri will face Perlis in the quarterfinal. 

Group runners up Kelantan hoping for Selangor PKNS to upset Negri Sembilan in the last match   while they beat KL Plus to avoid Group D champions Selangor in the quarterfinal did not materialise as PKNS went down 3-1.

In Group B, Perak fails in their third attempt against Johor FC to advance into the quarterfinal. Despite with homeground advantage they still went down 0-1 to Azizan Baba solitary goal. While Kedah nearly punished by the Armed Forces but must thank their lucky stars for the controversial early goal by Khiryll Muhymeen saw they won 4-0. Johor FC top of the group with a better goal difference will face Pahang. With Kedah travel to meet Terengganu in another quarterfinal.
