NEGRI SEMBILAN MADE INTO THE MALAYSIA CUP SEMI-FINAL

DEFENDING Malaysia Cup champions, Negri Sembilan maintain their fine form when they brushed aside Perlis 3-1 in the second leg quarterfinal match to advance into the semi-final on 4-1 aggregate in Kangar last night.


Perlis hopes of getting an early goal in the match to cancel out their loss at Paroi was disrupted in the 24th minute when the visitor took a shock lead. Shukur Adan drive in powerful a free kick which struck the wall. Perlis goalkeeper, Suhardy Alby dives to make the save but fails to grasp the ball cleanly. The ball bounce towards Abdul Halim Zainal who had the easiest task to tap the ball into the net.

The match was stopped for more than 10 minutes when a brick was thrown by a fan into the field. When the match resume back Perlis suffered a huge blow when Negri Sembilan scored their second goal in 40th minute.


Abdul Halim combines well with S. Kunalan on the right. The speedy striker cuts in past Perlis skipper Fauzi Nan and played back to Halim just outside the box. The young midfielder curled in a shot over Suhardy Alby for his second goal of the night.

In the second half Perlis did tried very hard to save the match but it was already too much for them. Defender Shukur Adan made it 3-0 before Perlis got their consolation goal late in the match through Hazrul spot kick.

Negri Sembilan will face Johor FC in the semi-finals.
