DEFENDING CHAMPIONS NEGRI SEMBILAN JOINS SELANGOR INTO THE QUARTER-FINALS

MATCHDAY 5  06/10/2010
NEGRI SEMBILAN  earned their Malaysia Cup quarterfinal berth with a hard earned 2-1 victory against KL Plus in a Group A match at MBPJ Stadium last night. With the win the defending champions lead the table with  11 points from 3 wins and 2 draws.

Akmal scored Kelantan second goal
In another Group A match, high-riding Kelantan was singing in the rain when they trounced Selangor PKNS 4-0 to boost their quarterfinal hopes. Kelantan's got their goals through Farisham Ismail (1), Akmal Rizal (1), Badhri Radzi (1) and Indra Putra (pen).  The Red Warriors currently lying in second spot with 8 points needed a win against KL Plus in an away match  to confirm their place. But with huge goal difference Kelantan can afford at least a draw but if they lose against the Highway Warriors. Then Selangor PKNS currently with 6 points could pip them for the second spot if they can upset Negri Sembilan in their last match. - Negri Sembilan and Kelantan will qualify.

In Group B it will a be a straight 3 corner fight between Pahang, Sabah and Terengganu. But Terengganu lying third in the group with 7 points stand a very good chance against out of favour Kuala Lumpur in their last match to claim one quarterfinal spot. While group leader Pahang playing their last game at home with 9 points can afford a draw against Sabah to go through. For Sabah with two away match on a trot it will be quite taxing schedule. A win is must unless Kuala Lumpur can cause upset which is an unlikeable result for the high-flying Turtles. - Pahang and Terengganu will qualify.

While in Group C, Kedah will be praying hard for Johor FC to beat Perak or at least a draw in their last game. But outsider Perak suddenly storm in the picture with two consecutive wins with huge home crowd support could made it through. If Perak defeated Johor FC by more than one goal and Kedah win against the Armed Forces then Johor FC will be kick out of place which they cannot afford to do. By looking in their last match the Armed Forces is quite hard nut to crack even playing away while Perak is getting better and better.- Kedah and Perak.

T-Team is still in the running for the quarterfinal spot but they need at least three goal margin to win against win less Felda United and Selangor did them a favour by winning against Perlis. Which will be unlikely for K.Devan's men to go all out with the quarterfinal match next on the line. So it will be Selangor and Perlis qualify in Group A.
